tag lolicon 114.3k tag loli
note The "lolicon" tag is currently used for manga with lolis in it, not lolicons. Lolis are the little girls, and lolicons are the (usually older) characters who like lolis. Ideally the "lolicon" tag would be changed to "loli" and a new "lolicon" tag would be created for characters who are actually lolicons (attracted to lolis).

Fuck me I'm back IF we had a brocon tag, this gallery would be tagged as "brocon". Not because it's geared towards readers with a brother fetish (they can just search brother), but because the sister herself is the brocon This idea that "lolicon" is the genre is wild when you just give it 5 seconds of thought

@Aelter > "lolicon" = the hentai genre as a whole. "loli" = not a sexual term, just a character appearance archetype - Uh yeah. What's the issue? The current "lolicon" is being used exactly as you described "loli" which is why the rename is relevant and good.

> Some non-lolicon stories could feature a loli. So a lolicon reader would waste his time reader the story - That's not how "lolicon" is being used, though. A gallery featuring a loli is tagged as "lolicon" because it's the only tag available, even if it's not catered to lolicon readers like you think it is. Also, they can blacklist "low lolicon" tag (should also be renamed to "low loli") > And a person who likes adult women would skip because it features a loli, even if the story revolves around adult characters, and the loli is maybe a sister or goddess that's never sexualized. - They can blacklist "low loli" all the same > Making a term be broader than they are is a bad idea. - Again, "lolicon" isnt being used as you describe it, nor should it. Ridiculous to think that tags are applied to the readers and not the galleries themselves. Readers use the tags to find their specific fetishes, not the other way around

Okay I just read some comments and am even more confused rename lolicon loli rejected It's fair to not want the ramifications of changing such a popular tag as @ranchdong said. However, @azertyitachi > "lolicon" describes the genre of the story (as in, help the reader find what he is interested in, and avoid what he doesn't like). - In other words, lolicon -> works catered to readers with a loli complex. Hear me out. They can just search up "loli" if it goes through since, y'know, that's what they're attracted to. Crazy revelation, I know. That's also not how the tag is being used > Not the type of characters the story feature (same as shonen, shojo, seinen, etc...) - the fuck? Tags are for the galleries themselves. If I look up anal, it's because I want a gallery containing anal, not because I like taking it in my ass irl. This shit has me confused af

@Osamu09 that makes no sense. The tag "anal" isn't tagged to cater to the anal-enjoying reader, it's tagged for galleries that contain anal. Lolicon should be used for galleres that contain a lolicon character, not to cater to the reader who is a lolicon themself Loli - a female character that's depicted as a child Lolicon - a character (typically adult male) with a loli complex These tags apply to the galleries, not to the reader. Sure, loli and lolicon might coincide most of the time, but that reasoning is dog water lol Also, its popularity as a tag doesnt mean it should be free from changing or critiquing. This entire system is meant to better the site, and I think this proposal does so in spectacular fashion It's crazy that this was rejected already and isnt more popular

All tags on this site refer to themselves as the object, not as the viewer. Such as "Tomboy" and "Oppai Loli". The tag being named "lolicon" referring to the viewer instead of the character makes no sense. If that was the case, others should be named "Tomboy-lover" "Oppai Lolicon", but that's wrong. Also the tag being "lolicon" invalidates the "oppai loli" one, because you'll need to put both tags together. Not every "lolicon" likes oppais, but anyone who loves "oppai loli" is a "lolicon". So when we have only flat loli, "lolicon" is okay. But putting "oppai loli" like they're doing in the recent doujins without the "lolicon" tag is just bullshit and wrong.

Loli used to exist as a tag though so idk why we don’t just have both tbh. You can have loli without there being a lolicon in the story. There’s a few manga I have favourites that I KNOW used to have the loli tag that just suddenly don’t anymore, so either we rename this one or create a new loli tag and retag a shit tonne of manga

To be fair, rejected suggestions don't appear in the list of existing suggestions when selecting a tag, so I assumed it hadn't been suggested yet. I understand that it's been this way forever and is unlikely to be changed. At the same time, I also believe it would make the site better, so I thought it was worthwhile to start a discussion at least.

I see that we entered the age where people try to suggest things that have already been rejected. To give you the short explanation: lolicon is meant as the target audience for the work. And while I do agree that "loli" would make more sense, that's just how it is. It's way too popular of a tag, it's too late to change it
