@40-sai [impregnation] has already solidified itself as a "breeding kink" tag and less of a realistic "impregnation" tag, so renaming it to "fertilization" would fill [fertilization] with irrelevant junk
among the examples list below, here is another trending GTS to add [impregnation] without explicit egg fertilization pg33+ #685147|Cross My Heart ~Tsundere Fuuki Iin to K…|46,916
i also believe [fertilization] & [impregnation] (how it's being used anyways) are distinct enough fetishes that having two separate tags is not a bad idea
as far as the parameters to require [impregnation], i would say the explicit mention of conception and/or desire to conceive. don't know any way to make the description any more concise
Fertilization : "The action in which one or more characters' eggs are fertilized. Often leading to pregnancy."
This would've been the more accurate term. createtagfertilization+16 can go ahead and snatch this one. May might as well change the 'impregnation' tag name to 'fertilization'.
Impregnation + Pregnant : This can be a bit dicey. I do understand OP's point here. But doujin artists generally just draw the egg getting fertilized knowing that readers understood that the woman got pregnant, maybe to appeal to the readers' imagination, have limited time to draw additional panels, got lazy, etc. Also, while #382610|Akogare no Tsunade-sama o Zettai Ninshi…|12,919 is clear-cut with no issues whatsoever, the same cannot be said for #464165|Tsuma no Tsurego no Nyuuyokuchuu ni...…|74,242 where no actual impregnation is shown. So, what are the parameters required to warrant the full 'impregnation' tag proposal, aside from the fertilization process? The egg implanting itself into the uterus? The time display between fertile and pregnant already?
(Reasoning for this re-description reads top to bottom)
> The action in which one or more characters' eggs are fertilized. Often leading to pregnancy.
The current description of impregnation is correct in a literal sense, but I do not believe it is how the tag has been used historically or how it's being used now. This isn't anyone's fault necessarily, it's just how the site was setup where only [pregnant] and [impregnation] existed
Numerous (and I mean numerous) galleries are tagged with [impregnation] without any explicit or confirmed egg fertilization
Some may argue that we just need to filter the tag and remove galleries that don't match that description, but I do not think that is a great solution
This is because it would take an insurmountable amount of effort and community labor to sift through the 35,000 galleries tagged with [impregnation]
Moreover, a considerable portion of the community does not seem to agree with the current definition. This is confirmed by the number of gallery tag suggestions to ADD [impregnation] despite having no fertilization; most of which are highly popular by vote
In other words, the userbase at large does not agree that [impregnation] is defined by egg fertilization (examples below)
For those who specifically want a tag for egg fertilization, there is a trending proposal called [fertilization] that I believe should be accepted. Of course, it would inherit the well-constructed description for [impregnation]
createtagfertilization+16
All that said, I have noticed an effort to filter out galleries with the [impregnation] tag that do not contain egg fertilization. I respect users that are doing this in order to align the tag with its current description, but I firmly believe that this effort is better spent populating a [fertilization] tag instead
This way, users with a processual breeding kink get a tag (impregnation), and users with an egg fertilization kink get a tag (fertilization). It also aligns [impregnation] with its historical usage, as well as how it seems to be commonly understood
Some may argue, then, that [impregnation] is a poor tag name. I'm inclined to agree with this premise, and it may even be worth consideration to rename [impregnation] to [breeding kink], [reproduction], [breeding fetish], or something related
The only issue I can see with this is that the tag is already so established, and per @ranchdong: "The guidelines are geared toward new tags. Some of these old tags are grandfathered in and far more harm would come from renaming them thus the reject"
