tag sensory deprivation
Tag description A story in which a character's ability to feel tactile sensation in their body is disrupted, by magic, drug, or hypnosis. Sexual content will generally have the character's body being molested unawares to themself.
note with the influx a while back of characters falling into tentacle pits and using magic to cut off their senses, this caught on as a trope and has a unique flair to it that isn't captured by any other tag

Blindfolds and the like are objectively sensory deprivation, but not included in this tag

@Balthezar a naive or innocent character could be sexually unaware, that doesn't equate to sensory deprivation in any way. it's also not as to-the-point as this one is

What about "Sexually Unaware" as a tag? Same thing I would think.

Just noticed that on rule34 there's a tag for this called "unawareacles" A bit too specific to be used on here tho

When I hear sensory deprivation I think of loss of vision, hearing, and speech. What you’re describing should be called something like “sensory modification”. Sensory deprivation isn’t a new trope or a trope that started with hentai rather it’s been a kink for a long time and it’s to describe the total loss of senses except touch so that the person can solely focus on touch. What you’re describing is losing the sense of touch and not necessarily losing the other senses. So with that said like I mentioned before change the name to something else as sensory deprivation is too broad and typically means something else than what you’re describing

Were you talking about the thing that happens in from page 212 to page 215, because if yes, 100% agreed

I thought 感覚遮断 was more frequent in booru sites, but looks like the definitions are all over the place: - kankaku_shadan - sensory_deprivation (I understand this is actually inaccurate) - emotionless_sex - blocked senses

Would calling the tag "sensitivity modification" or something similar be dumb? I feel like there's few enough entries where sensitivity is being either increased or decreased that it wouldn't be that big a problem. The description might be something like: When a character has their sensitivity to physical touch altered using either magic or a chemical agent. A natural change to sensitivity caused by the subjects own natural bodily functions does not count. Last part could be a bit less wordy, but you get the point

Sensory deprivation would be different thing. The trope for that is usually more like keeping the person deprived from any other sensation except sexual stimulation, to heighten their sensitivity (and usually part of sexual training to break them). Sensory block is usually more like orgasm denial where it came as set with when all the pleasure is released all at once in the end.

I think naming it sensory deprivation is better since sensory deprivation tanks are a real world thing.

sensory deprivation or block needs to a tag asap

I agree with blocking being the go to, since the senses are being blocked, not nullified. I don't see it getting confused with stuff like physically blocking eyes, because the blindfold tag exists

Sensory blocking (tag: 感覚遮断) would be more appropriate. The fetish usually involves not on nullifying the sensation, it also involves unleashing the accumulated pleasure all at once in the end.

Came up with some alternatives: Sensory Nullification Sensory Blocking Magical Sensory Numbing Magical Numbness Body Sense Suppression Sensory Nullification is probably my top pick, it's the most concise and direct one. "Nullification" also gives off an unnatural vibe while blocking could be interpreted as just someone having their sight blocked physically.

I agree with previous commenters. Sensory deprivation is a common kink, if you want to tag the trope you are describing another name for it would be preferable.

It can mean that, maybe we should use a less confusing name like "sensory blocking"

isn't sensory deprivation more that one or more senses are blocked( sight, hearing, etc), so doesn't have to be magic
