    -I originally named it previously in daily top 5 which might actually be better but popular now is more obvious. If popular now updates too frequently for this to be useful, I thought it was once a day but it might not be, maybe swapping to prev on daily popular top 5 might be better

pointless. I don't know what the requirements are for a work to get in the popular tab, but there's already a way to search works based on how many favorites they have by typing [favorites:N] (with N being lower or higher than any number such as [>500] (more than 500). As someone else mentioned somewhere it only works up to 5000+ (if you type [favorites:>6000] the result will be the same as [favorites:>5000]). Anyway that's enough to look for "popular" works rather than having to manually add the tag every time. Also as I already mentioned once the popular works are blacklist dependent (so different people will see different works in the popular tab depending on what they blacklisted)

If that is true then daily top 5 might be better since the the top 5 on the 'daily' option of popular should be more doable. Let me edit then

popular now updates way too frequently, also popular 5 is affected by whatever blacklist tags you have so everyone can technically have a different popular 5
