tag tomboy 7.4k
Tag description
Proposed

A Woman or a girl that behaves in a masculine manner. Could be, but not limited to: extrovert, rude and or loud. Also the use of male clothes is optional.

Applied

A girl or a woman who behaves in a stereotypically masculine manner, enjoys masculine activities, or prefers masculine clothing.

note I use the description to focus on behavior rather than looks because you can have gyarus that behave in a masculine way. I would exclude using male clothes as a disguise or trying to pass as a male
staff Accepted with no note.

Would this tag be valid if a work has a girl that is clearly tomboy-coded (dark/tanned skin, short hair, athletic physique, explicitly stated to have been in a track club), but isn’t given the opportunity to behave in a tomboy-esque fashion? In , the girl is pretty clearly a tomboy who was the victim of one of the standard hentai plots in an unseen earlier story, but the tomboy tag I suggested is getting downvoted and I’m unsure why.

Following what I said in the tomgirl tag description, I feel like since they're counterparts their description should reflect that mirror-like behaviour. Also, I feel like the description could be more properly worded. "A girl or a woman who behaves in a stereotypically masculine manner, enjoys masculine activities, or prefers masculine clothing" would be more accurate. Gyarus that behave in a masculine way ARE tomboys too; it does not limit nor is completely trapped in clothing or attitude, is a combination of both
