tag reversed genders
Tag description A setting where already established characters from a franchise are swapped to their opposite gender.
note Heard some people wanted this. Not to be confused with gender-bender or gender-morph, I also think that they should be merged. This tag implies all characters inside the story are reversed, but does not imply that characters change inside the work. For that, add the gender-morph/bender tag.

Honestly either this or rule 63 as the name. For anyone confused about this, Best and I do mean best example is Adventure Time. You have Finn and Jake as the main characters right? Both dudes, then their Female counter parts are Fiona and Cake. The tag doesn't get more simpler than that, which is honestly I don't mind this one since it's useful if you want to find... I don't know to give a example. Date a Live but instead of Shido it's Shiori and the Male Spirits or heck 100 girlfriends into 100 boyfriends. Not to mention this tag will always be in parodies because it doesn't make sense to use this if it's used without pre-established characters unless the author wrote it that way. Then there's a possible niche use case for this outside of parodies. Otherwise a Parody exclusive tag for Rule 63 type content.

I would really like to see parent and child tags. So stuff like this can be multi tagged all at once. Like 'gender change' is the parent tag and this is a child tag. That way when a gallery is tagged this it is also automatically tagged ' gender change' as well.

@40-sai archwizard Not really, although they are certainly gender swap, what this would refer is a setting where an universe all characters are swapped, regardless of it including gender bender later on. It is like "what if they were opposite genders from the start" rather than "What if they CHANGED to opposite genders in-story", because otherwise you can just use gender bender to do the job.

@Jor25 Boku no Pico Academia lol. And just look at the tags on that one. Gotta say, it's pretty messy. If anything I agree with the OP's note "... they should be merged." Or at least have one umbrella term and the others are all aliases (assuming aliasing is implemented at a later point).

@Osamu09 Are you familiar with the mirror universe episodes in Star Trek? Where the ship (or sometimes just a few characters) end up in an alternate universe where all the bad guys from their universe are good guys, and all the good guys from their home universe are bad guys (and Spock has a goatee)? This is more or less the same idea, but for characters’ sexes, not good/evil, so all the characters that are normally guys are girls, and characters who are normally girls are guys. I’m pretty sure I’ve run across some My Hero Academia doujins like this, where the doujin is set in a universe where characters like Izuku, Bakugo, Shoto, and all the other characters who are canonically male are female, and vice versa. As a side note, there’s a similar but distinct genre/trope that’s sometimes referred to as ‘reversed gender roles’ or ‘reversed gender morality’, which often has a character get isekai’d into a world where women are the ones who are typically ‘pursuing’.

@Osamu09 Look, the mindset of you having the thought of "it is niche, there for it should not exist" is wrong in the first place, first you need to accept that fact, check this page to see what I mean: https://nhentai.net/tags?sort=popular&page=6 . As long as it has some works, that is enough to justify it's existence. 1-I would REALLY love to give you some examples for it, but I myself can NOT find works like that because of the mass amount of works tagged gender-bender that is not this, NOT TO SAY I can not find them outside of this site, it is that I have rarely stumbled upon them HERE SPECIFICALLY. 2-Again, even IF it is for curiosity like you assume, and that only small amount of people look for it DOES NOT disqualify it from being it's own thing, if it exists, and there could be a tag to describe those works THERE SHOULD BE. 3-The votes may be negative, and people might think this is redundant, but that is EXACTLY why I am trying to convince people like you to think otherwise.

content and backstory are just 2 different things. To explain it in a simple way. You don't need to read to know the content, you can just look at it I understanding wanting to look for this kind of specific thing, but 1. I feel that it's very rare. Would be interesting to see some examples. 2. Even if people are looking for that kind of specific thing, I still think that most of the time it would be just out of curiosity, and not even because they specifically want to jerk off to that, just because it feels like something to specific to look for. Like yeah, someone surely does it, but most people just don't care, so why have a tag for a few people? So far the score is negative so clearly I'm not the only one who thinks that, and honestly I waited a bit to comment just because I wasn't sure if I wasn't

@Osamu09 The thing is this DOES describe the content. Look, I understand why you might think this tag is redundant by yourself because you are not interested in this type of thing, but some people do look for this, and there are works out there which SPECIFICALLY does this concept, by that I mean artists who make gender swapped universe parodies. When people search for gender bender tag there will be a lot of search results which will not be that, I suggested this tag to ease people's capacity to find these kinds of works. And it doesn't necessarily require for you to put a parody yourself when searching, you can just search for this tag and pick which parody universe you want to read. The REASON it requires a parody is because these kind of works are considered an alternative universe, thus they require a base work to reverse the characters' genders, that is why it is called 'reversed genders'.It CAN BE applied to "original work" tagged works, as long as there is some baseline for it.

@AHentaiPerson2 also to be a bit more clear on why I think "gender bender" or whatever other gender switch exists is very often the same thing, if a transformation does happen, 90% of the time it happens in the first few pages, and 90% of the time it doesn't show any transition, like they just change gender from one panel to the next but if we still want to consider that as "transformation" then "reversed genders" is still pretty much a transformation. Like you know what the character originally looks like, changing from one page to the next or from the original work to the parody is pretty much the same thing

@AHentaiPerson2 lastly it's still weird to add a tag that's only specific to parodies there's a "parodies:original" tag is currently not used on older works, which is the main issue we should be adressing. But if we assume that would work as intended, then you can include/exclude all parodies at once with it. So even if we want to consider your point of view that reversed genders and gender bender are different, they're not that much different. Like the proposal would be better if it was a tag that could also be applied to original works

@AHentaiPerson2 after a deep (and by "deep" I mean a few minutes of) discussion with chatGPT I came to the conclusion that my core belief is correct. This is a case where the tag tries to describe the backstory rather than the actual content. Which is something I will never understand the other disagreement is about what "gender bender" means. And to me it was never about the work including a "transformation" or anything like that. Heck, I could argue that even with a transformation something could be not considered "gender bender" and here's why. It's not just about changing gender, the interesting thing about the tag is that the character often still consider themselves as their original gender. If like a tomgirl transformed in a female, then that part would be missing. Depending on how early it happens and if you first see them naked, I think an argument can be made that even while it should be "gender bender", applying the tag would be mostly pointless

@Osamu09 I do not understand what YOU don't understand about this? Did you not read the note? It is a tag that is supposed to represent a setting where EVERY character have swapped genders from the get-go, and for that it MUST be a parody. The 'unthinkable' difference is that you don't need to use the gender-bender tag if story wise no gender swap appear inside the work itself. You DON'T need to know the parody to jerk off, this just informs you that this work parodies a setting where genders are swapped, and help those who want to search for something like this.

there's honestly too many things I don't get about this suggestion. But in a nutshell: what the fuck is the difference between reversed gender and gender bender? Isn't that what gender bender means? And why do you want to create a tag that only works for parodies? It's like those people can't jerk off unless they know the character, which is very funny because in most parodies characters aren't depicted accurately and often act out of character

Should I have said that it was 'all' or 'every' character(s) to make the description more clear? Hope the idea gets across nonetheless.
