For example, if a character appeared in one chapter with their spouse, didn't show up for a while, then came back at a later point in the story with a different partner and it's explained that their spouse had died, and remarried, but it was never presented to the reader before that point, it should not be added. Despite the character being a widow within the time span of the story.

Alright. In the case of a gallery, it makes sense that if the character is a widow at some point in the story, the tag should be added.

@akashako that is my understanding. if u remarry, you are no longer a widow; however, tags are given generously if, at any point of the story. a character is a widow, they get tagged as such.
