Tag description Cheating should be distinct from Netorare and Netorase. If the partners of the people having sex have no space to express jealousy or approval of the sex, then it should only be tagged Cheating. Examples: Mother Son Incest where the Father doesn't find out = Cheating Only. Mother Son Incest where the Father find out and is hurt / jealous, or is the protagonist = Cheating and Netorare. Mother Son Incest where the Father approves and condones the sex = Netorase Only, not Cheating.

Fuckriri1234 succinctly laid out what i think the distinctions are between the 4 tags.

@fuckriri1234 They can, and usually, have those themes in a story. However, they are not required to be marked under those tags. You can have netorase without sexual gratification of the cucked. For example, is netorase, but the one getting cucked has no sexual gratification.

@akashako feel like that misses some of the nuance where netorare emphasizes the negative emotional impact of the infidelity. here's my 2 cents, take it however you will: cheating = partner does not know (consent irrelevant) netorare = partner knows + partner does not consent. focuses on the emotional impact and/or helplessness of the victim netorase = partner knows + partner does consent. focuses on the sexual gratification that the victim derives from being cucked swinging = both partners know + both partners consent. driving difference is a) both or all partners can branch outside the relationship and b) cuckoldry focus is not there

Cheating: A and B are in a romantic relationship, B willingly has sex with C. A is unaware or unconseting. Netorare: A and B are in a relationship, B has sex with C. A is unaware or unconseting. Can also be cheating. Netorase: A and B are in a relationship, B has sex with C. A is aware or conseting. Can also be swinging, if B is willing. Swinging: A and B are in a romantic relationship, B willingly has sex with C. A is aware or conseting. Basic summary of the tags. Netorare 寝取られ is the passive normalized form of netoru 寝取る. Netori 寝取りis the continuative form of netoru 寝取る.

@Tobon Netorare and netori can overlap with cheating, but netorase can't be cheating because the cuck always knows about it.

I feel like BOTH Netorare and Netorase should be subsets of "cheating". Meaning "cheating" can happen with either of them, when secondary/unaware as you described in the first half of your description, but both Netorase and NTR necessarily implying cheating. I mean, that's kind of their definition and why NTR/NTS/Netori are "sibling" genres to begin with.

Bro dropped a note in place of description, then dropped outta here. Y'all need to decline it or recreate a description for the tag.

Also, it would be perfect if we could separate #male_cheating from #female_cheating

Also, some think NTR=Cuckoldry, and most of the time, it's not. Netorase is always cuckoldry, but with NTR it's only valid if we see the guy who's being cheated on getting high from it.

tag usage suggestion: 1)Pure #cheating: The girl likes it the whole time, purely consensual and the guy never finds out (or his POV is minimal). 2) #cheating + #netorare: The girl cheats willingly from the beginning or at least significant part of the story (not just breaks at the very end). The guy knows, and his POV and feelings are prominent (we clearly see his struggles and thoughts). 3)Pure #netorare: The girl is forced into infidelity or struggles with her infidelity most of the time.

Finally, people are starting to discuss the problem with differentiating those tags. 'NTR' tag usage is too broad nowadays. It could contain anything from willing cheating behind someone's back, to straight-up rape scenarios where the girl (or sometimes a guy) never wanted to do it in the first place (and even at the end, might still hate it internally). NTR is always about the feelings. Mostly (and I'm using a girl cheating on a guy as an example because that's 99% of the plots), it's about the guy knowing and suffering from jealousy, and the girl's feelings as she engages in physical infidelity and slips into mental infidelity as well. Cheating, as has already been pointed out here, is consensual infidelity in a relationship.

"Someone in a relationship voluntarily betrays their significant other by having sex with someone else." This seems concise and to the point.

I like the suggested amendment. The current description feels like a diatribe against other tags, which, admittedly, is a necessary dialogue to be had.

my suggestion: Cheating is when someone in a mutual romantic relationship willingly has sex with another person without their partner’s knowledge or consent; it does not count if they were forced or assaulted.

too long, "Descriptions: Short and factual. One or two sentences. Say what the tag means. Keep opinions out."
