Looks like everyone here would like to take Professor Stein's (Macademi Wasshoi!) lecture in Kemomimi 101. Or take a look at the links below for further reference. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LittleBitBeastly https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/LittleBitBeastly/AnimeAndManga +1 to @Digrat420's comment.

"Or tail" is the only part I disagree with in the tag description, since the word literally just means "animal ears". Ears imply a tail, and a tail implies ears, but you can have one without the other. Whether the ears must be real is debatable, but it would probably be best to specify with further tags so that users can find what they want. People have specific tastes, after all. I personally don't consider a headband to be kemonomimi, but I'm also not surprised to see it sometimes referring to a headband.

@fuckriri1234 iirc most boorus use them both in tandem, which helps greatly since it allows you to either filter the fake ears out, or specifically look for them, which would be greatly useful, BECAUSE FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS I GO ONTO A FUCKING DOUJIN TAGGED KEMONOMIMI AND 70% OF THE TIME THE EARS ARE IN A FUCKING HEADBAND ITS FUCKING UNBEARABLE. So yeah a fake_animal_ears tag would be nice to have

create tag animal accessories +11 create tag animal cosplay +20 pretty sure the tag has historically been used for fake and real ears. changing that at this point is wasted effort that would probably be better spent filling up a new tag for real and fake anthromorphs or wtvr

If we are not counting fake ears, could someone open a tag suggestion to remove it in this: ? I am already at the max suggestions which is why I am asking.

"Kemono" literally means animals, "mimi" means ear; it's just "human characters with animal ears".

As the others said, it should include not using fake cat ears or something like that, kemonomimi is only for the characters with real animal characteristics.

We need to differentiate between fake ears/tail and real ones

We need a separate tag for fake ears/tails. If I search for kemonomimis, I wanna see cat girls and fox girls and others like that. I don't want to see doujins that were tagged kemonomimi just because there's like one chapter where the girl puts on fake animal ears and have it be the same as other doujins where there's full on cat girls.

@TonyGOD *Points at Blake and Velvet from RWBY*. They have cat and rabbit ears, respectively, and no tails.

True, I wished we could edit the suggestions, so let's remove the tail thing and let it be what it is supposed to mean.

Kemono Mimi literally means animal ears, so you can't say tail in the description that has its own tag
