Tag description MTL, machine translation, translation done by artificial intelligence

note tired of seeing all the ai translations and having no way to blacklist them. we also need something more than a tag saying "rough translation"

Just got these hentai with terrible ai translation. Machine translation has been around far longer than AI translations and has over 2000 entries already. Meanwhile there are less than 300 ai translations. Making a tag that is difficult to prove and excludes so many works is just bad. All AI translations are machine translations anyways. From a cursory search.

"Machine Translation" is both insufficient of a tag name and misleading. Mixing MTL w/ AI is misleading as one (MTL) is less known as compared to the other (AI), and the former *might involve more work than the latter. From a tagging perspective, it's clarity. Also, the entire reason people *really* want it to be "machine translation" instead of "AI translated" is because they are aware a good chunk of people dislike "AI". Most people in the art world know this and will rarely explicitly say they use AI and instead put shite like "SD + PSD" or "I-it's not AI, it's j-just 'assisted'". Why? It's an obfuscation tactic to build a layer of separation, ie it's marketing. Their fear being that some people may not want to engage with the AI product and will just go back to the Japanese version and not bother reading the pages the AI prompter spent time downloading and feeding into mangatranslation.ai. From an ethics perspective, don't allow them to continue the grift for social gratification.

We desperately need this at this point.

We can prove it's AI when it literally says [MTL] in the title and there are random bits of floating text in the pages that clearly haven't been proofread.
