Upvoted. I'm fine with 'textless', 'alingual', 'no dialogue', 'no language', or any other fitting tag.

I prefer 'textless' over some of the exotic descriptions. Yes, it is true that emojis, sfx and the like are forms of 'text'— no-one, even the tag OP, is suggesting that. The tag is literally describing, to my mind, a doujin that contains no *substantial* dialogue or text, such that specific language proficiency is required to understand it. If characters were communicating with emojis, etc. I think I'd still consider the work 'textless'. If there is sfx, yes it is text, but I would basically consider the work without text. As in: it's not a substantial amount of text and sfx will not communicate a plot on their own. I think the problem is the proposed description by OP has given us all a bunch of ideas when maybe it just needs to say 'works that contain no substantial text or lack language use' if I can offer that as a tweak.

What @Zedratuguir2 is saying ✅ Naming should cater to the general public, not what is most correct.

I'm the resquester, not the judge. Still I need to say, we need to think of the generic people using nhentai search tag and stuff, what everyone preference would be. (Personally I never heard of alingual)

after asking chatGPT I have to say that "alingual" would actually be better. Text can include things like numbers, punctuation marks, etc. It could even be random letters like "asdfghjkl". So "alingual" would be a broader tag in the end I doubt it would really matter, but yeah, just putting it out there

I prefer the name "alingual"

I found a good example with actually no text at all, the characters only speak in emojis sometimes

I believe a textless language should have no sfx either, which is readable text

@ImHereForTheHeartOns i think for now, textless or speechless sounds better to use for general tag because you instantly got the idea of what the tag contents would be, it's a straightforward name in a glance. I'm using group tag as an example

Looks like the site nhentai scrapes from switched from "textless" to "speechless" and uses "text cleaned" tag for works where the accompanying text has been removed.

Would "no dialogue" be a better tag name? If sound effects are excemptions.

comes to mind @ArayaSei. Just sfx on the main content itself (atogaki not included). With that in mind we can modify the description to "A work that mainly does not contain text or any meaningful dialogue."

does the sfx like "ahnn~", "ahhh", "plapp" and etc is count as text? since I remember there's some doujin without any bubble speech, but still have some sfx

This is indeed important one. We have a lot titles with no text. It would be very useful for anyone want to do type setting for the title without editing raw version if they could find a premade version.
