Proposed

For comics that are read in left-to-right direction, instead of right-to-left.

Applied

For works that are read in left-to-right direction, instead of right-to-left.

note There are a few comics here made to be read from left to right, instead of the usual right to left
staff Starts leaning into "production credits" territory but useful to exist so accepted.

@Vagooo: I don't think eHentai uploaders really care about this single nHentai tag.

I think it's crazy this got accepted but I must respect the outcome of voting and the admin's judgement. Hope this is useful and doesn't backfire in the way I suggested. @40-Sai: this is exactly the scenario I was thinking of. I don't really mind about what a scanlator does, it's their choice. Although it does add a crazy amount of extra work that seems unnecessary if the original is R-L (just look at the Dark Horse editions of the Akira manga, for example). Some scanlators do not edit sound effects or compensate for any reversed text either. I guess this will be useful for works that have been original published on a L-R basis....

@vagooo I suddenly remembered the scanlator olddog51 - besides doing rewrites he would also typically flip the pages making it read left to right - a double whammy. I don't have beef for the scanlator, I just personally don't like how he did things with the doujinshi. But hey, that's just my preference. One olddog51 is enough, no more clones of him please.

I have seen OP's posts and others and I don't think this tag is very useful? The essence of a tag should be to help you find what you want (or don't want) as much as it categorises things... I just don't feel like there's warrant for the tag as @40-sai has indicated, even if you are focusing on JP authors who have adopted a R-L layout, what does the tag add? No-one is horny for layouts. This is a skill issue about reading. There's another problem— backfire: we may encourage duplicate uploads that may only be differentiated by a scanlator/editor flipping the doujin for this tag pref. I don't need to see duplicates like this for every title. I don't want that door opened. It's unnecessary.

I took a look at OP's sample and the authors other works (raw) and (translated) and while the doujinshi in question do read from left to right without the author's warning, it wasn't that much of an issue as I only need to adjust my reading direction. Taking the previous posts into consideration, I am not fully sold on the tag proposal - unless one can provide a few more Japanese authors whose RAWS (and I do mean raws like ) do read left-to-right as such. Not a good bet considering that Japanese mangaka typically go right to left by default.

I think people are really not realizing the fact that this is not an immediate change, it would take a long time to tag most of the works and, even then, new works will never have this tag to begin with. It's like flipping a building upside down because there might be a 5 dollar bill under it. Not worth it

the argument of @babydel72 doesn't make any sense to me. If by page 4 it doesn't seem like the dialogues make sense, how would you not realize it's read the opposite way? Do you just look for the "left to right" tag before reading anything? If not, then you would still need to go back and check, which is about the same time it takes to realize you're reading it wrong

@roman1311 that's a bit of a straw man argument. It's different than any other tags because you can figure it out by like the first 1-2 pages. And the reason why it wouldn't make sense as a category is because as far as I can tell, from all examples they gathered, it's always a certain type of work (manhwa, webtoons, etc.), which are either already categories or should be created. Now maybe this is just because I have a certain amount of experience, but I'm immeidately able to tell when a work might not be japanese and it that case I automatically assume it might not be read right to left, and most of the time it's actually pretty easy to tell since the bubbles tend to go lower on the right side rather than the left. Like, would it be helpful if there was such a tag/category? Overall, yeah. But because of everything else, it would be quite redundant

I hate the argument that this tag is pointless because you could just read the work and figure out which direction you're supposed to read in. Going by that logic, all tags are pointless because you could just read every work and figure out what it contains and decide whether you want to read it. Of course a reading direction is not like the other tags that are about the contents of a work. That's why I like the idea of making this a category. it would make more sense since categories decide the type of a work and it would also help with the issue of clutter. Maybe an even better solution that would however require more work would be to have a NEW sub-category called Reading direction and have both the option for right to left and maybe even top to bottom for manwhas...

I don’t understand why this would be a controversial tag- it would remove the confusion of trying to figure out if i’m reading something correctly when i get 4 pages in and realize it’s not making much sense. I’d much rather focus on the actual content, and I typically default to right-to-left. Plus it’s a pretty common tag or label on other sites.

i almost wish instead of a tag it was instead a category. then everyones nitpicks would be essentially fine as its not convoluting tags and is able to be black listed for those that dont seek it.

It will not add or remove from my reading experience, however I just don't see the point, it may also go against the guideline for being too common. [ Go a vote for self-breast feeding ] 😎🤙

ok, I think this is pretty simple. Reject the suggestion. The reason why people are upvoting it is that they actually want to look for (or blacklist) non japanese works, but we can use more specific tags for those ("western", "manhwa", "long strip", etc.). Like yeah, there's technically some japanese works left to right, but either they're extremely old or they mention it in the work itself

I think @VScode has a point, just because it can exist doesn't mean it should. There's no point in adding noise to an already noisy system with tags like this, even if it makes sense that it exists. What's the point ? You read 3 pages before realizing it was the other way around ? Boo-hoo, just reread it

@VSCode i think this would help a lot to inform people on how to read certain comics, compared to as a tag you'd search for if you get me - sincerely my dumbass who sometimes dont know what direction to read

@VScode wait... you actually got a point. I upvoted because it felt natural, but considering the downsides it actually makes more sense to reject it

I understand that this tag can exist but why should it exist? Like when you are reading with one hand on your dick do you really care if it's Left to Right or Right to Left? I feel like just by reading the first two dialogs one, using a single braincell, determinate if its one side or the other. Also, I don't see a scenario where anyone would Blacklist or search for one panel orientation or the other, it just doesn't add or take from the reading experience and would just add the tag to thousands of comics where it doesn't matter at all, I fail to see a scenario where this would be useful

Tag perfect, name perfect, description perfect. Very useful to see this one clearly, how many times haven't one started reading something on nHentai to get super confused just to reread several pages... There are also loads of examples because of certain circumstances.

This is much needed lol, can’t focus on the dialogue when I’m focusing on which direction to read from.

But we're speaking English, not Japan, and left to right comics are non-Japanese anyways. So why should we use the Japanese name of it? "Flipped manga" but I wasn't talking about Japanese manga that's being mirrored for western/non-JP readers, I'm talking about comics that are originally written or designed to be read from left to right.

Got the following from an AI when I was searching for a name to the format: The style of manga where panels and dialogue are laid out to be read **left to right** (like Western comics) is often referred to as **"Yonkomi"** or **"Yonkoma"** when it follows a four-panel structure, but more generally, it’s called **"Left-to-Right (LTR) manga"** or **"Western-style manga."** However, the most common term for this format is **"Flipped manga."** This refers to manga that has been mirrored or reoriented from its original right-to-left (RTL) Japanese layout to a left-to-right (LTR) format, often for Western audiences. Some publishers, like Tokyopop in the early 2000s, were known for flipping their manga releases. If the manga was *originally created* in a left-to-right format (rather than flipped), it might also be called **"Manhwa-style"** (Korean comics) or **"Manhua-style"** (Chinese comics), as these traditions often use LTR reading. But for Japanese manga specifically, "flipped" is the
